Arnprior is farmed by the McEwen family, made up of Duncan and Rebecca, and their three young children (Duncan, Floraidh and Erin) and Duncans parents Anne and Duncan.
The McEwen family started to diversify into pumpkin farming in 2015 and became one of Scotland’s original and first pumpkin farms.
Arnprior was primarily a beef, sheep and arable farm until 2015, when the McEwen family decided to sell their cattle, increase sheep numbers, and try out diversification in the form of pumpkins.
Our biomass is used to heat our farmhouse, and three other houses on the farm, as well as dry the 200 acres of grain that we grow on our farm. The biomass burns locally sourced woodchips to produce the heat. Due to the size of the biomass, we have excess heat. This excess heat is what will heat our swimming pool, and pool building to a nice 32-33 degrees Celsius.
The swimming pool water and drinking water is sourced from our own private Spring water, drawn up through our bore hole, 60m below the ground.
